CCECPSCO Activation Protocol

This is the plan for activating (calling up) CCECPSCO members when communications or storm spotting assistance is needed. Remember, please do not self-deploy!
Primary: BeAlert System (Rave Alert)
This is a system that CCE 911 uses for alerting the general public. CCECPSCO also has access to this system for calling up members by phone call, text message, and/or email. When activated, members will receive a BeAlert message using the methods they have selected (voice, text, or email).

Alternate: Linked Repeater System
Members should monitor the Northern Michigan Linked Repeater System when possible, especially during severe weather or other times when communications assistance may be needed. Net control will advise if help is needed.

Contingency: VHF Simplex
In the event of loss of normal infrastructure, members should monitor VHF simplex of 146.52 and 146.58 MHz. Relays may also be needed to get the word out to as many stations as possible. Initial call-up may be made on 146.52 and then a net will be established on 146.58. It is good practice to monitor 146.52 as often as possible anyway!

Emergency: HF SSB Voice
The Michigan emergency communications frequencies are 3.932 and 7.232 MHz LSB. These are good frequencies to monitor at any time but especially if normal infrastructure (such as cellular service or linked repeaters) are not available. NVIS antennas are usually best.
